[s-cars] Wet Engine

What I've been told is that just idling, there will be a higher
concentration of fumes from fuel, which then contaminate your oil and
accelerate viscosity degradation as it mixes in. Why is there higher
concentration of fuel fumes? I would say that it has to do with normal
engine operating temps and different mixtures in operating conditions -
but that's just a guess....

I got's to know, how does idle from cold to get an engine hot differ
from drive from cold to get the engine hot? It'd seem to me that the
start is the real wear time, thereafter it doesn't much matter.??? Bob

drying it out.

Help it dry out by getting the engine compartment hot. Ie, drive it
until engine coolant and oil are normal temperatures, and then park it
and let it idle for 5-10 minutes (don't just idle from cold, this
takes much, much longer and causes engine wear.) Then open the hood-
everything will be toasty and any water left should quickly evaporate.

However, if water a)was ingested into the engine (relatively unlikely,
given how high the airbox is) or b)got into an electrical connector,
the above won't help.

What exactly are the differences in operation after the 'excursion'?
How long have you driven it since?

Brett
