[s-cars] Electronic Diagnostic Tools

Fellow S-heads,

I am looking for opinions on electronic diagnostic tools,  
specifically if there are any out there that can run VAG diagnostics  
as well as those of other manufacturers in the same unit. Is there  
something out there ,at a hopefully reasonable shade tree mechanic  
price, or is it better to buy specialized scan tools for each  
individual vehicle manufacturer.


  I have always had my eye on the stuff from Shade Tree Software for  
the S6, but it looks like you can not buy from them directly now, and  
must buy through WorldPac or Auto Camping Ltd in Canada.
