I would guess the real reason is that when the battery inevitable catches
fire/explodes it takes out the driver with them, so as to spare the driver
the misery of the repair bill.

Not sayin, but just sayin... Audi has a long history of issues with
electronic stuff... even the new DSG's that have been recalled.  An Audi
electric car just sounds like a bad idea ;-D
