Hey Steve,
This is just a SWAG (scientific wild ass guess) and there's not a lot  
to go on, but it could be a completely dislodged / disconnected intake  
hose.    Why?
Let's review.
Rarified turbo supercar, as featured in the "November European Car",  
"Money Shot" feature....  seemingly up until now, solid aforementioned  
supercar.... and aforementioned 17 year old.
Yup.  Irrational exuberance.
And that will target a weak old hose... amongst other things.
Butofcourse the solution to all these old S failures is to simply  
replace EVERYTHING.

All coolant system parts, ALL of em.
including, hoses, connectors, valves and both radiator fans.
All emission valves & connectors.
New ignition system dejour.
And a new tranny never hurts.
