I don't believe that's a true statement regarding the AAN Motronic.? The AAN Motronic can recognize 30 faults.? I believe you are technically trying to speak to DTC Static (your 'permanent' reference I think) vs a Temporary Fault.? A Temporary Fault differs in that if a fault is recognized,? if within the next 50 engine starts, the fault no longer appears, it is automatically erased.
To confirm temp fault code is indeed available in 'blink', turn the engine to 'on' (not running), you will? blink 2111 and/or 2112 (rpm and TDC respectively) and/or occasionally 2234 (Supply voltage low).? These are considered a Temporary DTC, and will automatically erase.? Both available in Blink mode.
AFAIK, all codes are available to the AAN Motronic via blink code.? The 4 main output tests are also available via the jump wire technique.

"Blinking codes" usually only retrieves permanent fault codes, not the
intermittent fault codes. Only VAG-COM does that.
That might be why some of you "don't get" codes...
