[s-cars] '94 UrS4 rear spring replacement

The problem with using a spring compressor with a strut installed is you risk incorrect orientation of the spring end-stops in the perches with no way to put it back. The problem with using a jack, is you must have the shock eye perfectly clocked to the tabs, or you risk forcing the tabs apart. The upper spring end stop is fixed, the lower spring stop is supposed to be oriented parallel to the lower bolt eye. That will get it close on a stock spring car, maybe/not on H&R Eibach setups. Swaybar disconnect (even with the big dog swaybar) shouldn't be necessary as long as both wheels are in the air and the car supported on the chassis, not on the control arm.

I agree with Tom, putting spring compressors on and S car in situ exponentially increases the risk of personal injury.

Check out Fred Munro's post. It is that simple. The jack just needs
to be small so it does not get in the way. Moving the lower shock
mount up will allow you to insert the bolt -job done.
My neighbor has one of those little floor jacks that comes in a Pep
Boys kit. It is too small to be of much use around the car since it
does not have enough lift height, but it is perfect for this job.
Working with spring compressors when installed on the vehicle is an
invitation to finger loss.
