[s-cars] rotor clearance issue

I'm running Boxster calipers over A8 calipers on my C5 A6. Bracket
is a steel one, of unknown origin (came with the calipers).

When my mechanic installed the setup, he used Textar brake pads.
No issues with the pads, except that the inners have worn pretty
badly. My mechanic thinks the pads are binding in the
calipers...they were pretty well wedged in. Pistons all move
freely.

I replaced the Textars with EBC pads. The EBCs sit *just* slightly
lower in the caliper and allow the anti-rattle spring clips to
rest lightly on the outer edge of the rotor. They make some noise
on the road and will eventually wear through.

I also tried a set of Hawk HPS pads and they're just slightly
worse, making quite a racket.

Has anybody else noticed this? On my S6 and on my A4, I have not
seen this happen...

Should I go back to the Textars? Modify the spring clips so that
the clear the rotor? Grind down the rotor? Turn up the radio?

Thoughts appreciated!
