Get a small flat screwdriver. Get underneath the RES/ON/OFF button and pop it off. Then work at the seams on the stalk itself, out near the end. There is a front piece and a rear piece at the stalk end (only the wide part of the stalk) that will come loose. Work carefully and you can easily get them off without damage. Good luck.
