[s-cars] S6 stereo unit swap

There's dash kits that are pretty straight forward for the S6 to stick any
basic aftermarket DIN in like your Sony.
As long as your aftermarket comes with the usual DIN 'cage', all you really
need is a bezel on the front to take up the space. The downside is the only
bezels I can find suck. They not only look like crap but aren't really well
dimensioned. I'm running an Alpine (which I regret choosing - Alpine has
fallen far from days gone by, never again...), I carefully reshaped the
cheezy Scosche or whoever it is plastic bezel to fit the hole better (it's
an hair oversized not undersized), and have secured it with velcro so it
doesn't pop out at random intervals. Also the surface of the bezel is a
crappy textured plastic that doesn't really match although it's not so big a
deal.... only anal-retentive obsessive-compulsive car guys would notice for
the most part.
Floating in the back the project list has always been to fab my own bezel
with a better surface & dimension. Back in the day you could get nice metal
bezels for common cars (had a great one in a toyota truck once - black
anodized panel to change the OEM double-DIN down to single) but every car
stereo shop I checked on the S said you can't get 'em anymore, and that
anything they did like that was a custom metal fab nowadays. Wouldn't be
hard have a piece of alu sheet cut and then anodize or powder coat or maybe
plasti-dip or adhesive-vinyl it for surface finish...
