Lower hose running to headlight washers could be the culprit, but I think the only way to reallly look is to remove the wheel well liner and have peek. Fairly easy to do (did it when removing ABS computer to have it rebuilt) and I think it gets you fairly good acces IIRC.

Subject: [s-cars] taking a leak
Folks,
My '01 B5 A4 has been taking an embarrassing leak...well, it's
actually more of a gusher than a leak, but anyway...
It won't hold washer fluid, emptying from full almost immediately.
I gather that it may either be the bottle itself or one of the
pumps on the underside of the bottle. Maybe I'll be lucky and find
a loose hose...
Does anyone have a BTDT...a write up on how to get to the bottle
most efficiently, or perhaps a link to said write up? I found one
for the S4 that suggested approaching from the driver's
wheelwell...
Much appreciated!
Lee
