How old is your oxygen sensor? Manufacturers claim they are good for 60,000
miles.

Also gas filter.

During a 3 hour, cross-country drive my 95.5 S6 ran perfectly. At a 
stop light it started running rough with significant power loss, no 
indicators on.

After a 90m rest, I turned it on and it ran perfectly again, long 
enough to get it to an Audi capable mechanic shop. They scanned for 
codes and none were recorded so he put in gasoline anti-freeze and 
told me to wait for it to work through the tank. During the 10m drive 
back from the mechanic, it started running rough again and has ever 
since, even back the 3 hour drive.

What should I be looking for; My local mechanic suggested I look at 
this before I bring it in to him at $105/hour:

Fuel supply problem
cracked coil pack
cracked spark plug
broken ignition lead

Suggestions welcome before his timer starts ticking.
