Bill, this may be my solution. These antennas are rebuildable. I can rebuild
mine with time and effort. My issue is the wire connector to the actual mast
(inside the mount, on a tiny blue disk, which can be removed via two tiny
screws) snapped. I'll have to rip apart the black wire that runs under the
head liner, make it shorter to get enough length to come out the top and
connect to the mast, and remove the blue disk, too as it will be in the way
and is now useless. It will take some time but faster than running wire to
the head unit via the car. Perhaps I'll embark on this adventure today. Or
maybe I'll say screw it and due an aftermarket replacement as the cell phone
in the avant has been eclipsed several times over by newer technology and I
will NEVER use it.
Cheers!
