#2 is easily fixed, changing the lead for the switch from headlight 
circuit to parking light or ignition circuit.

#1 can also be easily fixed...by mounting a set of Hella MicroDE fogs 
under the bumper. :)

I have a set of these in the stock fog location on my B5 A4 (with S4 
bumper) and my C5 A6. They add considerably to the HID output of the 
A4s, modestly to the larger A6 lamps. I run them as DRLs...always on.
