According to the manufacturers you should always disconnect the battery when playing near an airbag on any car. Typically I just move my head to the side as I disconnect and reconnect the electrical connection (done probably hundreds and never set one off unintensionally, but still). Don't turn the ignition on while the bag is disconnected or it with throw a code and illuminate the SRS light.
