I had mine rebuilt. It cost about $500 because of the center CV joint being
sourced from Audi. If you search you can probably find the VW or Porsche
part that is much cheaper. Also, I think a good driveshaft shop will know
how to find the appropriate CV replacement, just be sure that they don't
charge you the Audi price when they're using a generic part.

I used Yarman Driveshaft, Lancaster, CA if you need to talk to someone who's
done a 93 S4 shaft 6 months ago.
