[s-cars] US-MA legislative alert: Right To Repair bill

I have VAG-COM for VW/Audi- full access to VW diagnostics, don't need the
dealership and a lot of dealerships use VAG-COM for working on cars.

VADIS for Volvos is a subscription-based system- my mechanic has the setup
and can fix my Volvo w/o any issues- he can buy a daily subscription from
Volvo.

Porsche has systems similar to VAG-COM as well.

I have a GM tech II emulator for my laptop and can do pretty much everything
a GM tech can do with HP Tuners Pro, which also works for Ford.

There is something for BMWs, but I don't know really anything about it.

The only big issues about this are things like immobilizer codes which Audi
won't release even to the owner of the car in question.

I have no idea about Honda, which is featured in the website that Brett
posted, nor do I about Toyota.

Speaking specifically about Audis, has anyone had a positive experience with
Audi w/regard to releasing immobilizer codes to the owner of the car? To me,
that's a deal-killer- I won't be beholden to the dealership for something
that should be provided to the legitimate owner of the car, unless they'll
do it free of charge at any dealership by manufacturer mandate. Even with
the much older cars, you couldn't get the radio code without having to jump
through hoops and paying lots of money.
