 Personally, I would not be concerned with a 1/16 variance between tires... on one axle, or even F-R.  Much more happens ever time we turn.

Okay, this isn't on the snake bit S6, but on the '07 A4q.  Took a nail to the RR 
and 
drove on it long enough as it went flat so that the nail scoured out a groove 
into the 
inside wall.  Tire proclaimed toast at Discount Tire.  Amazing amount of rubber 
scraped out in a few blocks.

Anyway, the LR tire is at just about 8/32".  With the eventual new replacement 
at 
10/32", does that push the limit on variance, or should it be okay?

Also found out that when the original owner and the Stasis shop he used put 
spacers on 
the car to handle the big brakes with the stock wheels, they failed to get 
longer 
bolts.  Maybe four turns of thread holding things on.  Just another thing to 
take care 
of...looking at that knowledge as the positive thing about having to buy one or 
two 
new tires.
