Miatas are expensive to insure, relative to their cost.  Many of them, especially older ones, are modified and driven by boy racers.


Taka is paying nearly as much to insure his Miata as his Corvette, even though the Miata doesn't have collision coverage.

How many times have you seen a brand new Vette with a geezer driving  
it at about 5 under? Actuarial rates must acknowledge that a good  
portion of Vettes are phallus proxies.

In a similar vein, except for Spec, a fair number of Miatas can be  
found parked in the employee area of hairdressers, also no doubt  
acknowledged by the actuaries.

How's that for generalizing? I'll be very upset if no one flames me...
