Thanks to everyone for their replies.  I guess I didn't realize it was a
100% failure part.  The avant is just about to pass 140k, so I guess it's
appropriate, but why does everything break when the kid is driving???

Has anyone NOT had it break off?  It's one of our treasured 100% failure 
rate parts.  I repaired mine with a small metal hinge and countersunk pop 
rivets.
