Nathan: Good news.  Unfortunately, one of the results of a faulty ignition switch that is not changed
very early in the failure period is it leaves the starter ON (running, engaged) after the engine starts. 
This causes the starter to be over spun, which kills it.  This is a good reason to change your ignition
switch pre-emptively, BEFORE it fails.
