[s-cars] Burning oil or coolant?

So I haven't driven my S4 for at least a couple of days.  It has almost 170k on it and tonight on the way to work I noticed excessive smoke in my rear view mirror.  Outside temp was -10F.  It was a short drive, so I didn't really have time to try and figure it out but it did seem that the smoke was worse when transitioning from boost to vaccum then when in the boost.

So coolant or oil is the question I suppose, leading to head gasket or turbo seal.  Could someone please refresh me on some basic diagnostic tips?
