[s-cars] Synthetic oil weight rec's

 I've always been a huge fan of Shell Rotella synthetic.  They've never played the synthetic blend game, and anything that they've released that was a blend has been very clearly labeled as such.

I've run it in a bunch of cars over the past 20 years, most of which have been sold over the years.  I have a "Stage 3" '01 S4 that now has 180k miles and runs perfect.  I also have (and will keep) one of my cars indefinitely, and that's my '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee.  It has a 5.2 V8, and I've never had to maintain any engine component... never had a head off, etc.  It now has 300k miles on it, runs pretty much the same as it always has, and still has very good compression.

i spend 50-60 hrs @week servicing and repairing nothing but audi-vw and have 

used 5w50 casrtrol syntec in all turbo motors for the last ~15 years

w/ nothing but good results............my experience, of course

Not to start a "brand" debate, but I'm a typical Castrol 20W-50 user, and would 

appreciate rec's on what weight full synthetic to use since I'm not finding 

anything. Is Rotella 15W40 a wise choice (dino) or should I move over to Mobil 

1  15W-50? (sucks that it's not sold in 5q jugs but oh well).
