I can't agree Bob- I know a few people here at work just lost a lot of data
this past spring because AVG Free could not stop a near zero-day virus. Our
corporate Symantec AV caught it, as did Norton Internet Security 2010.
NIS went to the corporate AV kernel with the 2009 version- I'm happy to
report that it doesn't bog the system down nearly as much as the older
versions. FWIW, my slowest system is a Pentium D with 2GB RAM, so it's not
like I don't notice a slowdown. I'm running a mix of Pentium D and C2D
systems at work without any issues, either.
