the likely ssue is that the metal inside the rubber trim strip has rusted out.
I'll bet if you grab the part of rubber that has pulled away from the body, and squeeze it, you'll hear and feel a crunch from all the rusted metal ;-(

replaced crunchy strips with less crunchy used ones.....
