Since I don't want to piss off the list Nazi, I'll just comment on this one:
During the recent Olympics, I thought it was interesting how Audi advertised
on two fronts- first on how they have redefined what cars people envy;
second that BMW must be upset because they've placed second in the last
three big comparison tests done by major American car mags. BMW, on the
other hand, advertised primarily that their cars feel good or at least that
was the message that I understood.
I thought Audi's campaign was pretty bad- I don't buy cars like that just
for an image, but I guess a lot of people do exactly that. I also thought
taking a direct potshot at a competitor looks really petty and immature.
While I prefer Audi's latest cars (current A4, S4, A5, S5 and the 2011 A8),
they still don't bring us the really cool stuff (TT-RS, S3, RS6, etc.) and I
still think the current Audis drive more like a Mercedes than a BMW.
Maybe Bill M. can take me for a spin in his new S6 and change my mind at
2010 S-Fest.
Taka
