Subject: Re: [s-cars] summer tires
As I, like PM, can only test tires one set at a time, I must rely on articles and discussions with other competitors for my competition tires. And I really must deal with a limited budget...and since I'm not competing for a National Championship or even a Divisional one, there is little point on me buying the only real choice for Autocross (still, surprisingly) the Hoosier A6, which one literally purchases by the event (okay, exaggerating here, but you get the idea). I will admit, since I compete on DOT-R's, my only experience with the UHP's is as an instructor driving other peoples cars when asked. I certainly don't have back to back "testing" with them. Thus, I too am forced to rely on the magazines and like minded individuals, no other choice. Just can't afford to do it any other way.

I can only directly compare them to the Toyos and PPs; I underwrite my tire testing program one set at a time. Since I can't test every tire out there for myself it's great to be able to supplement my own experience with the shared experiences of like-enough-minded fellow travelers - the articles and talk get filtered, weighed, and blended. Without too too much navel gazing a choice is made...
