[s-cars] brake shudder

Hey kids,

I'm stumped.

I can't figure out why all of a sudden experiencing I'm getting brake shudder .

I've got 993TT calipers on Movit hats w/ 993 TT rotors on Movit caliper  brackets.

Checked the pads, all good. Checked the rotor spin w/ wheel off and there's no catch on the pads...they seem to rotate smoothly., yet even under mild braking I get the hand massage thru my steering wheel.

A friend suggested being diligent with the way I torque the bolts back, which I did, still does it.

I haven't had any emergency stops lately and all the suspension bits are fairly fresh.

With both front wheels in the air I can twist the wheels and feel no play.

There's no vibration while driving at all speeds....just under braking. Oh and I did a few hard stops to try to bed the pads....which never shuddered this winter....still nothin.

Thanks in advance

Mike

Subject: [s-cars] Clutch disc with sprung hub for aluminum flywheel

I bought a Sachs Race Engineering aluminum flywheel and pressure plate from a fellow lister, for AAN.  I also picked up a B5 S4 clutch disc with sprung hub, based on the info from the UrS4 forum on the Audiworld site.

Now my mechanic is telling me that the new clutch disc won't fit with the pressure plate, because its hub (with the springs) is too large to fit inside the inner circumference of the friction surface in the pressure plate.  He said it's close.  The hub is 149mm, and the pressure plate's inner diameter is 148mm.

I don't know if the ID of my new pressure plate is smaller than stock, or if the hub of the clutch disc is bigger than it's supposed to be.

Anybody run into this before when trying to switch over to a sprung clutch disc?

-Teddy
