Temps in the turbo itself can get really, really hot, which lends one to
really want to consider full synthetic oil, which is more resistant to
coking (essentially cooking) and varnishing at those elevated temps. Added
benefit, better lubrication at start up, particularly in cold temps,
synthetic flows better.
As for oil weights, I personally use 10W-30 (so far Mobil 1 or Shell Rotella
T, I have not been happy with Castrol Syntec which causes some occasional
lifter tick after a hard run) which is what the manual calls for. I did try
M1 15W-50 but surprisingly found that there was greater consumption (as in
some, vs. none) with the heavier oil than with the 10W-30, which has been
experience by some other listers. This recommendation is for street driving,
I would run the heavier stuff for an actual HPDE.
YMMV,
