[s-cars] Heater Core failure?

Steve -

There could be a slow leak at the hose connection to the heat exchanger. This
is located beneath the cowling below the windshield. Remove the windshield
wipers and plastic cover and you may see coolant in the cowl. There is a drain
in the cowl also. My leak was due to a cracked nylon barb inlet that is sealed
with butyl rubber or silicone sealant. You may never see wet carpets if this is
the case. this coolant loss confused me for awhile because it was so small of a
leak.

Subject: [s-cars] Heater Core failure?

S-heads:
I'm noticing a slightly abnormal frequency of condensation on the inside of
my windows, along with a small coolant loss. I'm afraid I might have a
heater core starting to go. I understand the repair is painful... any
BTDTs? Any solid way to diagnose other than waiting for the wet carpets?
Kind regards from Seattle.
