So I'm turning to the only source for unvarnished automotive truth I know of. I've recently upgraded my TDI with a bigger turbo and an awesome Malone Tuning stage 4 tune http://malonetuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/100hp_pdtdi_stage4_dyno.png. I learned the slippery slope lesson here, and am falling victim to it on the TDI. Bastiges. It's all your fault.
The pesky Malone tune has just taken my 97 stock hp and increased it to 157hp, and 181 stock lb-ft to 269 lb-ft. The result is I can now spin the stock clutch in frickin' fifth gear. My friends don't call me Captain Obvious for nothing. Time for a new clutch.
What's the list's opinion of Spec or South Bend? Centerforce does not have a direct TDI fitment, and I have a query in to them to see what they recommend. ID Parts, Dan Simoes old outfit, has South Bend, and 034 has both South Bend and Spec. I'd like to keep my business in the family, so to speak. Any preferences one way or the other? Anyone I'm missing, besides SB, Spec and CF?
-Ian Duff.
