HKS Super Mega Flow Reloaded. Yeah, a stupid name, but a great filter. 034 dyno tested one to something like 600whp with minimal vacuum between the turbo and filter.
Cone filters, indeed all K&N style filters, take huge amounts of surface area to flow properly. On K&N's website you'll find a filter area calculator which will show you that that tiny filter you were running is good for like 300bhp.
