Doesn't surprise me. I used to be a huge "conehead" for my bikes. But in
that case I would run 4 (admittedly smaller) cones on a quad-carb setup for
a 750cc motor pushing 80-90, maybe 100hp if I was lucky. Just eyeballing
the 4 cones I'd use in those applications must have had the same or a bit
more the surface area than the single 'somewhat big' automotive cones, which
are trying to serve 3-4-5 times the HP.
I always wondered about that when seeing some K&N "warm-air-intake"
flashpackage on a turbo ricer or GTI or whatever...
