 Jack
Glad to hear you are ok. When I read this type of story over the years, I always offer a different perspective. Usually in a private email, but here's the summary words I have offered over the years. Your Audi did it's job of protecting you from more severe injury or worse. $10k for a 240k mile avant should get you exactly what was totaled, plus some. The thought of you, with back injuries, stripping a roof-torn avant, to grab a couple of parts, sounds physically straining, mentally traumatic (for you and or your loved ones having to see that reminder of what could have happened), all to do what? Maximize the 'profit' from the loss? You need to think on this hard, and seek counsel on your words below.

Say your prayers, take the 'more than fair' price for the car that likely saved your life, and move on. Or, in the words of the late George Carlin: "The dog died saving your life, give it a grateful burial, don't stuff it and bring it back to the house"

my .02 and thanks to the Audi gods on your behalf

Scott J

Alas yet another one, smashed in the rear of the car 1-1/2,' paramedics cut
the roof off (I was partially paralyzed when I was hit). I then rolled into
a car in front so front end took a hit as well.

Pried driver's door open that accompanying them cutting every post and them
breaking every window means there isn't a straight piece of metal on the
car. Insurance is at $9580, for a car with 230K I don't think is bad, what
do the masses say? And buy back to get the RS2 stuff on the motor back is
$610. My wife let the insurance company tow the car to where they wanted and
it went to a Copart lot a bit from our house. But that's where it is, the
problem is Copart gets to sets the buy back amount I can either buy it back
for the $610 or bid on it, which presents the problem of someone else
wanting it for salvage on the suspension, engine, and trans. Not a perfect
world!

For me I went to the major trauma unit in Portland, good thing, while at the
ER, they over medicated me, so I spent 4 days in the Trauma unit and another
2 days in the trauma ICU. I've got total mobility in my legs and movement in
most of my arms although there is some swelling of the spinal cord between a
couple vertabe. and very strong tingling on the top of my arms and hands.
Gonna be a long recovery!

I got hit by a woman that said she didn't see me (bright red station wagon,
but the good thing is she was driving a company truck for one of the largest
companies of what they do in the PNW, so eventually the insurance will pay
OK.

I'm already looking for another 95.5 S6 Avant, there's a couple good ones
and ones with high miles. I'm not so scared of the high miles because mine
had 230K, and everything on mine worked fine. Just trying to squeeze some
more out of the insurance company in both directions for the value of the
car, and get the bay back reduced!
