I'll add my 2 cents.

I think every car is going to behave differently and you'll need to
do some trial and error testing.

When I first had my 993TT set-up the car squealed like a stuck pig--
super embarrassing. I tried the OE pucks, goop (several different
kinds of it), pucks with goop, pucks with out goop, shims, no shims.
Let's say I tried a lot of things....nothing worked. I had Hawk pads.
I switched to Textars based on a lister recommendation...problem
solved. I run Textars without pucks on smooth S8 rotors without noise.

At the time I pinged the list of course a few that had the same set-
up (brackets, calipers, pads) said they experienced no noise, while
mine was deafening, until I switched pads. Sure it could have been
coincidental but I tried all sorts of combinations, just trying to
change 1 variable at a time. The Textar switch worked for me.

Since then I have also switched caliper brackets (aluminum to RS2
steel) and rotors as well (Euro A8 to S8), still quiet.

Yes, Textars are dusty.

I switched to gunmetal grey rims.

Good luck.
