Make sure you check belt tension too.

I chased all the common issues for those symptoms and finally it was a
'slightly' loose belt.

Sounds like a classic bad alternator, ABS light gets illuminated due to
low volts (not enough V to run ABS valves)

One question though... if the Battery is at 12.2V (low but not hugely
bad) how can the Alt be at 7.2V?  Might want to
check the resistance of the Alt - Battery cabling.  The Type 44
(5000/200) had a frequent failure in the splice in the
footwell but I don't know about C4.

I always rebuild my own Alt so I know who to curse when the break, so
far no cursing. :-)
