Karen,
To add my two cents to this, as I was the one who suggested ACNA might be a path
into a release from Audi, I would not focus so much on a limited run of replacement
mats, but on the release of Audi's logos for use on, as an example, the Lloyds
Ultimats, which are superior to the original Audi mats.
I recently needed to replace the mats on my '83 urquattro and could not get Lloyds
to do the Audi rings, urquattro, urq, or '83 urq, for the mats. So, my old beast
has new, but blank, mats...really too bad. The same would be true for my '95.5 S6
avant, but I actually have a spare set purchased a few years ago. As I noted
earlier, however, I consider Audi mats inferior to the Ultimats in any case.
Releasing the logos for the older car patterns would be able to satisfy the needs of
Audi enthusiasts in terms of model, color and preferred embellishment. Or we could
just have blank mats, and to follow that trend, maybe I could remove or blacken all
Audi logos from the exterior of my five quattros. Just a thought...to improve
consistency, you understand.
I've been a member of the original quattro club and list and consistently had
multiple Audis over the last 25 years. I know that everyone on the various audifans
lists would appreciate any assistance and/or nudges you could impart to the
manufacturing entity that sometimes would appear to wish that all of us old
enthusiasts would just go away and junk our cars to buy new ones...but we buy new
ones anyway.
And, by the way, how do we jumpstart the ACNA in Houston?
Thanks, and all the best,
Steve Marinello
