Yes, agreed on the chipped K03s. My S4 Avant has K04s now, with the same chip that I had for the K03s. I haven't done anything else to it, because the torque converter is said to be the next weak link and I don't want to have to fix it.

We have four in the family right now, a 2001 sedan and wagon and 2001.5sedan
and a 2002 sedan, with 55k/110k, 99k and 125k respectively (the 02 is sedan
and 01 avant are for sale BTW). They are pretty good cars, overall. There
are some typical problems, leaky afterrun pump, CVs fail, valve cover
gaskets leak, turbo oil lines leak, weak sauce control arms.
With that said, chipped S4 K03 seldom last very long, so look to replace
those if they haven't already been.
I would strongly suggest you look at the maintenance history, as with any
other car and look for a lot of preventative work rather than just the
mileage.

What is the list opinion/experience with well sorted B5 2.7tt S4's? This
one has the ECU modified by APR and a few other minor pieces; APR Bi-pipe,
K&N cone intake and hoses. How do they hold up once they get through to
100k+?
Thanks,
Steve
