[s-cars] mats w/logos

My reading of all the initial traffic is that we have asked the Audi
club for assistance in obtaining the required permission since the
club has a good working relationship with Audi NA, and has regular
contact with them. This should put them in the best position to
negotiate release of the trademark. If it is to the club, then
hopefully they will not gouge the membership on a merchandise deal.

I don't see this individual approach being successful, and maybe even
counter-productive if Audi NA is in receipt of several different
requests asking for something different. I can't see Audi giving any
blanket release of one of their most recognized logos for individuals
to use. No one seems empowered at Audi NA on this issue, so my guess
is the
president will have to ask headquarters so the request had better be
well presented or nothing will be sent. That is why I think the club
merchandise approach has the best chance for success, first in
obtaining permission, and second, in providing a path for obtaining
different color mats/rings.

I sent information on this issue to the elected regional director of
the club, but have not received any response. I think the wheels of
progress grind slowly anyway, and with the ACNA nationals just a week
away, I doubt this is a top issue this week. But, hopefully it will
get some consideration by the entire board and staff when they meet
next weekend.

Since Bob has received a response from someone, I think it is very
important that it be determined just who that person is and respond to
whatever the phone call was about.
If you can clear the air, and brief whoever the action contact is at
AOA about what the issue is, I believe that could be helpful Peter. I
would hate to see this project nixed because of some misunderstanding
of what this list wants.
