How much have you run it since this event?
If you haven't run it much, I would be inclined to guess that your lifters collapsed due to lack of oil, and they'll take a little run time to pump up and return to normal.
That would explain noise at fire up and idle. You could attempt to isolate where the racket is coming from using a large screwdriver as a stethoscope. I would be hoping the noise is coming from the valvetrain. Lifters don't like being starved for oil... and the Audi lifters seem to be particularly temperamental. I've had Audi lifters start making noise just from using Fram oil filters when I was in a pinch.
Good luck,
Dave

Subject: [s-cars] oil loss consequences
A simple enough sequence of events: oil pressure switch fails & hemorrhages
oil. Replace switch, put in 3 qts of oil (!); now there's the slightest of
little bratttt rattle on startup and an oh so light tick at idle. Not good.
Ideas on how bad things are?
