[s-cars] AC Question

Hedz,

Patient is a 95.5 S6A with a little over 150K on the clock.  The
compressor began cycling on and off during a recent high temperature
road trip.  First noticed this when coming to a stop in a small town.
At highway speeds the compressor light came back on and the AC blew
cold.

This cutting out behavior persisted and increased in frequency.  Now
it will not come on at all.

Searched the archives and found similar complaints that were diagnosed
(but not proven) to be one or more of the following:  insufficient air
being pulled past the condenser due to an inoperative secondary fan,
low coolant, seized compressor and serp. belt wear.

On my car, the secondary fan did not come on with the AC set at LO (no
compressor either).  I have been running without a primary fan for
about two years now with no discernible problems.

I plan on having the AC checked for coolant.  Can anyone suggest where
to look for tracking down the non-operative secondary fan?

I know zip about the AC system so any help is appreciated.
