I was in your neck of the woods this past Monday and Tuesday to lay to rest my fathers oldest sister.  
 
Monday: Asheville, NC --> Dobson, NC --> Wythville, Va -->  Bluefield, WV --> 
Beckley --> MeadowBridge, WV --> Rainelle, WV --> Bluefield, WV.
 
Tuesday: Bluefield, WV --> Rainelle, WV --> Sam Black, WV --> Rainelle, WV --> Danese, WV --> Bluefield, WV --> Dobson, NC --> Asheville, NC.
 
While at my Uncle's in Bluefield, I read through the hydrofracking stories in the newspaper.  With the hydrofracking to extract natural gas and the mountaintop strip mining, there will not be much of the WV I grew up with remaining.  Truely sad.

Hey Y'all,

There is to be a special report on mountaintop removal mining at 
Blair Mountain in Logan County, WV.  This mountain is about 45 miles 
from my home by air.  You might find it an interesting program.  I 
haven't seen the report yet but I plan to.  CNN 8PM ET Sunday 
(tomorrow evening).

Blair Mountain was a major battleground in 1921 during the mine 
wars.  Alpha Energy (new owners of Massey Energy who were operators 
of the Upper Big Branch mine during the disaster at that mine a while 
back) is planning to completely remove the former battleground area.
