First: I don't understand how one replies to a specific thread.
Anyway, the thing about Stabilant and DeOxit that Oleic acid does not do is that

Can anyone with a working KATE verify that this is the correct part number
for the heater core for a '93 S4? 443819030
I'd also like the part numbers verified for the two heater hoses from the
core to engine if they are handy? One hose that came off the car says 4a0
819 371 c and the other is 4a0 819 xxxxxxx can't read it.
And since I'm being so needy, anybody know where a date with KATE can
be found? My new computer is needs some love.
TIA,
Ron

Not real worth, but what the market will pay. :)
Turns out that it is NOT a Stromung; it's a Strebo. Strebo saids that they are totally different between the two body styles and by the way, we have an S4 specific cat back one that we can sell you for $1000 shipped to your door. I'm not buying that it's totally different.
The Stromung on our S6, even though it's an early generation model, is much nicer since it is turbo back, not cat back like the Strebo.
But the Strebo is mostly free so I might just have a local shop swap it over to the urS4.
I had forgotten just how much of a hobby these Audi are...

I have both cars, a 1991 200tq and a 1992 S4. The '91 is for sale for cheap.
Sounds like I should swap over the exhaust to our S4! The exhaust is worth like
half the value of the car!
Thanks!

There is no Stromung for a '91 200q, but you can install the UrS exhaust on the
200- the tips are a little too short, though and you'll have to cut the bumper a
tad- the exhaust runs a little further toward the passenger side than the
original 200 exhaust.
If you're buying a new one, ask if they can extend the tips a bit.

Ron,
ETKA lists 443819030 as a heat exchanger.
Upper hose is "Return hose - heater valve > water pipe" 4A0819373C
Lower hose is "water hose - temperature sender > heat exchanger" 4A0819371C
Here is download info for ETKA courtesy of Mr. Robert by-god-WV Myers

With seven years in Houston, following nine in Louisiana, I have a critical
need to redo the grounds on the urq and S6 and am in need of some good stuff
to put to use. Wasn't Stabilant the preferred product? . although a good
cleaning and silicon spray has worked for me in the past. I seem to remember
a good link and good price on an introductory 'kit' some (long) time ago,
but can't find it at this point. Anyone know of a current less expensive
source for Stabilant, or have another recommendation?
Thanks,
Steve

I've found Caig's DeOxit (which you have to tailor to the metals in your connection, so a sample pack is a handy thing) has worked well for much less $$$.

Caig Deoxit and ProGold have done well for me in the humid coastal MA marine environment. I've found a liberal application of Deoxit, encouraged with a nylon bristle toothbrush, does wonders for heavily oxidized connections, followed by a liberal spray of ProGold.

Thanks for all the quick responses.DeOxit.that was it! Stabilant on the
brain, I guess.
Have to consider the oleic acid option, though, JC.
Thanks,

You might find oleic acid at an old-time type pharmacy, but this guy sells
it in small bottles (search down for "cease & desist contact cleaner")
http://www.dialcover.com/components.html
Solvents of choice include coleman fuel, VMP naphtha, or lighter fluid
(which is mostly naphtha anyway), depending on consistency desired. The
lighter fluid will be a bit thicker than the others. Note comments at link
above for other ideas - he suggests 5% concentration. Some mix it at as
much as 1:1 for lubrication purposes while the more thinned out varieties
are more for contact cleaning purposes (aka leave less residue).
