I remember seeing a mount that uses the tow hook eye, it was on a BMW, IIRC.
something like this http://www.rhoplate.com/ doesn't have Audi listed
though.
On my old '85 GTI, I had upgraded to Big bumpers and did not want to drill
straight into the cover so I did a homebrew version of this:
