Apikol seems to be the favorite, so I'm going with them (along with all new
mounting hardware and lines).
I am well aware of how dangerous this was, my three year old was in the back at
the time...
Last question:  since the brake resivour is presumably empty, I will need to
bleed the whole system.  I've done that before, but if I recall, you are
techically supposed to use a tool to make the ABS cycle while bleeding and get
any air out of the unit.  I've never done this, and not had any prolblems, but
am wondering if perhaps I wasn't getting as hard a pedal as I could have been.
Anyone know how to do this and if it is worth doing?
Thanks,
Erik

Apikol brackets without a doubt. You're very fortunate this didn't happen as a
high speed hard stop.

Subject: [s-cars] BBK question
So I was coming to a stop at an intersection near my house and CLUNK!!! Brakes
stopped working.  Got the wheel off and caliper was lying at the bottom of the
wheel, with the adapter bracket for the 993 caliper split in half, right through
the mounting holes.
I did not install the brackets, they were on the car when I got it, but they
were sourced from a local shop that I believe had them machined at a local
machine shop (about 7 years ago).

Anyway, I could buy a pair of new brackets from them, but instead of waiting for
a machine shop, I’m wondering what’s available for a good price (but more
importantly, well made).  What are the preferred sources for brackets to fit
(what I believe are) 993 C2 calipers to an UrS (caliper p/n 993-351-421-001)?

I suppose I need all new bolts too… I have the Porsche p/n here, anyone know if
these things usually use the oe bolts to mount the bracket to the car?  If so,
got that p/n handy?

Good reminder to frequently check these things (along with SS lines, if you have
them).

Thanks,
Erik
