Slave was bad in my car Bill. I changed the master due to a broken shaft, and still had no clutch and could not get it to bleed. I suspect it was seized or something. Anyhoo, changed the slave and bled it, and all was/is well.

I assume you recall the threaded shaft on the MC that breaks as I
think you did this repair once.
Seems more likely than fluid loss. And I have never heard of a slave
going bad (post 1860 something.)
I further assume that with it in gear and turning the starter, the car
does not move?
If it is fluid from the slave, maybe just a loose connection.
Also, I "think" Tom Green, you live down that way, dontcha?
