First, a rear torsen from a v8 quattro is a bolt-in for the UrS cars, I did the first one of those almost 15 years ago to a 95.5 S6, and never really thought much of why you 'wouldn't' do it - and have put over a dozen in since. Discussed here only a few years back, but many have btdt. It works with the later EDL cars, since the Torsen is done with it's torque biasing efforts long before the wheel actually spins - kicking in EDL.

WRT replacement to the Haldex, I say no way that would be easy or even possible without Major deep-pocket surgery. With no center diff, one would need to add one, which would mean different trans. Then the rear Haldex would be useless, so a rear diff would need to be added as well. Basically, a completely new driveline installed. Hard to find room for that when it was never designed for it. Anything is possible, but I doubt that would be cost effective for the project dollars spent.

So, is it possible to replace the Haldex center gizmo (for lack of a better

term) with some sort of other gizmo, in the same vein as it's possible to

replace the rear open diff in n urS4/S6 with a V8 Torsen rear diff? For example,

could one remove the Haldex stuff from the housing, and replace it with

something more ...ahem... useful? And if so, what might be more useful? A Torsen

center diff?
