Likewise the DDM Tuning (a common alternate to VVME for retrofit kits) bulbs
I run are only something like $15 a set for replacements, making the dealers
$280 a scam throwback to days when HID lighting was a super premium option.
Most often that's the case with something like this - the OEM part price is
set back in the day when the parts actually WERE expensive but now the long
term learning curve and economies of scale have brought the market price
down to 5% but the dealer part price is still stuck back in 1998.

Problem is compatibility - I guess ballast impedance or current rating or
something has to be matched up... I have no idea how these things work
although I should Wiki it... I guess that's what makes buying the generic
bulbs for OEM applications difficult.
