A very respectable quick fix is to install Toshiba HIR 9012 (low beam) and 9011 (hi beam) bulbs. They run at stock wattages, but put out around 3400-3600 lumens. It's been discussed on the list before and it has held me off from installing my Rossato-bin HID conversion very effectively. No Auto-Check headaches either. No, they don't have quite the throw of HIDs, but they come functionally close. They do lack the "blue upscale bling" however.
