I have about 3 years on two sets of the custom Audi OEM upgrades -- TT
projectors, A6 ballast/igniters, on my son's '97 A6 quattro avant and my
wife's '96 quattro avant. This upgrade has been flawless...it took my
mechanic some work to take the TT projector mounting plates another
lister designed and rework them for the late C4 ecode lamps...but once
that was done, the rest was straightforward. The setup uses stock bulbs
and stock Audi electronics.

Clearly more expensive and more work than some of aftermarket kits...but
I had one of the early McCulloch kits in my urS6 and wasn't really happy
with the bulb mounting or the quality of the electronics...the bulbs
were not that durable and difficult to source. If something went, it was
easier to just buy a new kit.

I don't know if all the newer kits use standard bulbs. The Phillips kit
on the referenced site seems to use standard bulbs...I wonder how they
mount those in a standard H1 or H3 projector...

The good news is that these upgrades make a big difference in the amount
of usable light on the road. I've got HIDs on each of the cars in my
stable, and my 50 year old blue eyes sure do appreciate them!

Best,

Lee
