Wayne,

You have maybe $5K of work identified, none of it urgent.

If you love the car, go through it and replace all the hoses and wires that you are worried about. Do any other prophylactic maintenance you feel necessary.

You will be into it for way less than a new (or newer) car purchase, and you won't be driving a car that doesn't excite you

I'm starting to think about a new-to-me car, and aside from a 997 twin turbo or a new A4, what I'd really like is a 5 speed V8.

The V8 was the very first Audi I drove, and I just love the style and grace of these older cars. (We ended up in a 200T).

Now, it wouldn't be my only car, and I'm not doing a lot of driving. I work at home and fly or train to other offices.

Just a thought. You love the car and you don't really like the alternatives.

Best,

Lee
